Plettner Kennels and Tours is currently offering a unique summer experience. Staying and working at a professional Iditarod Sled Dog Racing Kennel. While most know what goes on at a sled dog kennel during the winter months as teams prepare for the Last Great Race, few experience what goes on behind the scenes during the non-racing season.
For those who want a truly “hands on” experience working with these magnificent canine athletes, Plettner Kennels is currently offering a 1 day, 5 day and 30 day packages from May 20th thru August 30th, 2005. While spring and summer are the slow times of the year at most kennels, we are buzzing with activity. Go on the morning training runs with one of our racing teams, as we 4 wheeler our way down the trails and prepare for the upcoming season. This and a host of other activities will keep you wondering at the end, where the time went. Help us greet guests from around the world as they stop by to tour the kennel and take summer sled dog rides. Play with the puppies, and learn training techniques as we introduce you and the puppies to dog mushing. You may even be able to name one of your favorites
Centrally located an hour North of Anchorage in the Mat-Su Valley, Plettner Kennels is only a short distance from Big Lake, the summer recreational capital of Alaska. Some of the best salmon fishing hot spots in Alaska can be found just up the road, as well as Talkeetna, Palmer, Hatcher Pass, the Alaska Railroad, and a host of other summer attractions. Our packages include on site housing in one of our cabins, home cooked meals, on site laundry and bathroom facilities, internet and phone access. Transportation to and from Anchorage International Airport can be requested.
So instead of doing the same old things this summer, come join us in Alaska and have some fun with the dogs, we know they will like it, and so will you.

- Due to space, stays are limited to no more than three persons at this time.
- We have one room with a double bed. This room for double occupancy is reduced by 8% per day for double occupancy, if the second person is participating.* If the second person is a non-participant the reduction is 38%.
One Person, 1 Day $200 per day
Double occupancy, one double bed, 2 participants $350 per day
Double occupancy second person non-participant $250 per day
One Person, 5 Day $750
One Person, 1 Month $2000
- All rooms are non-smoking
- Breakfast and lunch you help yourself our kitchen
- Dinner is served between 6 and 7 Pm
- We do not include alcohol; however you are welcome to bring your own.
- Package do not include car rental or transportation

BOOKING INFORMATION:
- Reservations are taken on a first come first serve basis
- We accept VISA and MASTERCARD
- A 50 % deposit is required to hold your reservation. This is not refundable.
- Packages begin on the first day you arrive at the kennel weather it be 6 AM or 6 PM
- Extension of your stay is allowed, provided there is not a conflict with other reservations.
- Rooms available, non-Participant, $100 per day, double occupancy $150
- Summer weather conditions in Alaska vary rapidly from wet to dry. Temperatures
Range from 45-85 degrees, so pack accordingly. You will get dirty. Laundry room available.
* Non participant, a person in the group that does not want to go out into the kennel but has other thing to do.
