Summer Kennel Tours

Headed to Denali Park? Ahead of schedule or searching for the ultimate Alaskan experience? How about touring a professional Iditarod sled dog kennel? Easy highway access from the George Parks Highway. Meet 10 time Iditarod Sled Dog Race finisher Lynda Plettner, and her lead dog Arge. Arge is the star of the PBS special, Sled Dogs, An Alaska Epic. Join Lynda for a walking tour of the kennel, and learn first hand about these magnificent canine athletes.


Location:

We are located approximately one hour north of Anchorage at mile 53 of the Parks Highway.
Proceed north past the fireworks stands and take the Houston High School/Plettner Sled Dog Tours exit.
We are just two blocks in on the left.


Hours and Rates:

The kennel is open six days a week Monday thru Saturday. First tour 10:00 am, second tour 1:00 pm, third tour 4:00 PM. June 1st thru August 31st. Special reservations can be made to suit your family, guests, bus or large group schedules.


Bus rates, Sunday tours and special tour times by minimum 24 hour reservation.


Individual traveler / small groups

- $20.00 per adult admission fee
- $10.00 per child admission fee
(Free for children under 6 years old)

Rides are an extra charge of $20.00

Admission fee’s include:

- All riders receive an autographed official Iditarod trading card.
- Opportunities to meet and talk with an Iditarod musher
- A guided walking tour of our race kennel of 300 dogs
- A hands on experience for your guests by allowing them to pet the dogs, try on and handle the equipment,
_and play with our puppies
- All guests will receive a years subscription to the Plettner Kennels Iditarod Racing Team News Letter
- Film the dogs in action, and realize that these are not just your typical house pets
